Using 9 different sets of stencils I created a broad set of monoprints which capture some of the imagery I have been focusing on throughout this project.
POSITIVES:
- Interesting seeing the difference between lots of white space and a full composition
- Liked how this shows even more palimpsest through the layering of imagery, even when it wasn't my plan originally
- The branch with leafs on works best as a free flowing motif across the work
- Like how certain aspects are unclear due to the layering
NEGATIVES:
- Some of the shape outlines look too rudimentary and need definition through a line
- Some of the full colour compositions are muddy in colour and loose the focus onto the important aspects
- A few feel too structured and planned
NEXT STEPS:
- Explore with a looser feel, but with more control, perhaps through pencil drawing then tracing in illustrator
- Look into screen print for a more polished outcome
- Let accidents happen, it works better often when there are unique overlaps and reveals
