Lecture- Society

Society- bond between people, abstract concept
->Creates community

State forces ethos of society- anarchism against state, but what are the practicalities?

What is society for? First things First manifesto- is it about sharing skills for mutual aid- develop each other or self gain?

-Marginalisation of arts is dangerous
-CoP about thinking what you could be/do in the future

"most things are designed not for the needs of the people, but for the needs of manufacturers to sell to the people"- Papanek

Take your wage, but don't forget who you are
Social tithe- 10% pro bono to help society

-How do we determine what is socially responsible- ethics frameworks

Subjective relativism
- no universal moral norms of right/wrong
- people decide own morals

Cultural relativism
- ethical theory on right/wrong depending on place/time
- including religion e.g. bikinis/hijab

Divine command theory
- good actions are aligned to will of God
- bad actions are against the will of God

Act only from moral rules that you can at that time- universalise
-if you follow rules just for you, not moral

Treat people as ends in themselves
-don't treat people for own personal gain
