Process of screen prints

Some of the prints from todays print session:

PROCESS:
- Selected colours from the communal trolley- premixed by others, then added extra medium to make them more transparent
- I taped up half the screen then printed two, same colour images at the same time before un-taping and using the other side
- Worked two compositions at a time with the same colour, yellow, pink, green then black
- Ensured that throughout I played around with the direction and combination of prints
- Printed onto a variety of stock, and avoided cleaning the kodatrace inbetween colours

WHY:
- I wanted to try to lose some control myself from the finals, and assume a role of 'antecedence' with 'my' work, so that the pieces take on their own life

SUCCESSES:
- Because I taped up half the screen, it was an extremely quick process due to not having to wait for the screen to dry
- I found not having an exact plan for how each piece would look ensured I tried a variety of different outcomes
- I effectively planned how many to print of each colour and on top of how many so that I had a range, some of which filled the page and some which celebrated blank space

STRUGGLES:
- Ensuring I had enough of certain ones to experiment on was difficult, and I didn't always have the exact ones I wanted to work on top of
- Getting the inks to be the right level of transparent was something I had to spend a lot of time working on
