Brand recognition

What is really starting to interest me is how colour can 'make' a brand and ensure it is easily recognisable.

Here I wanted to look at how much I could strip away the detail of a brand where it is still recognisable. I think some are more successful than others, such as the coca cola and google, which may simply be because they are things we interact with more on a daily basis.

Questions/ what will I do next?
Explore different media- cut paper?
Look at the trends in packaging- like in essay, are all packaging for one type of food a certain colour?
How much does the form of a product rely upon the colour to get the message across?
More primary drawings of packaging

Coca cola and Google are instantly recognisable, Facebook and
Ford not so much- is the blue overused?
Amazon, Yahoo, Master card and Youtube are decipherable
after some consideration, think the strong colours of Amazon
mean  it could be reduced even more to simpler shapes and would
still be recognised
Both recognisable, too much form in the Fanta one though, could
I simplify these even more? Use a set frame and just alter the colour
for different brands?
